Is it just me or are those letters schools send out to parents who take their children on holiday in term time, just a little condescending? They like to tell us that a week out of school is the equivalent to downgrading on exam results etc. And yet they take 3 to 4 days out of school for teacher training. Surely then they are depriving my children of better grades? When I was at school, (and yes I am aware that according to my kids that was like a century ago) teachers had to go into school during the summer holiday for up to a week for training, not have 12 weeks holiday a year plus extra days for training purposes.
